Sayed Kashua (2010 SFJFF Freedom of Expression Award winner) is a talented and ambitious Israeli writer with a top-rated television comedy series, Arab Labor, but Kashua never feels at home. He’s a Palestinian citizen of Israel, a walking, talking oxymoron, an invisible man constantly called upon to justify himself, his work and even his decision to write in Hebrew. Director Dorit Zimbalist’s fast-paced documentary follows Kashua’s search for a home for his family, making us feel what it’s like to be a stranger in your own land, constantly afraid of the violence that ripples just beneath the surface.
